AP WORKFLOW SOLUTIONS

AP Partners with Electric Sheep on AI video at IBC 2026.

At IBC 2026, AP Workflow Solutions will partner with Electric Sheep to demonstrate AI-native video editing with AP Storytelling.

The collaboration supports a clear direction for AP Storytelling: embedding video into the story workflow from the start and using AI to help with time consuming production work, while journalists retain editorial control.

Why Electric Sheep?

Electric Sheep is an agentic video production platform built for enterprise newsrooms and other teams producing video at scale.

Think of it like having a video editor assemble your video for you in the background as you are writing the story.

Its technology can search footage by meaning, assemble clips from multiple sources, match supporting B-roll, generate subtitles and prepare edits for different platforms.

Users can brief the system in natural language and then refine its output in a full timeline editor.

This combination of AI-assisted production and detailed human control is why we are excited to work with Electric Sheep.

It closely reflects our own approach: AI should give journalists a stronger starting point, not make the final editorial decision for them.

“Video has long been a critical part of news production, but in many newsrooms the editorial context and the video production process still live in separate systems. We have spent years helping journalists discover and access video assets across those environments.

Working with Electric Sheep gives us an opportunity to go further by bringing AI-assisted video creation into the same story-centric workflow. Journalists stay in control, while AI helps reduce the time spent on production and assembly.”

Connecting the edit to the story

The value of the collaboration comes from integrating Electric Sheep with AP Storytelling, rather than treating it as a separate video tool.

AP Storytelling holds the context around a developing story. Through the integration, that context can inform the video workflow, alongside the available footage. Electric Sheep can then produce several possible edits for the journalist to review.

Each version is presented in a timeline editor. The journalist can examine the choices, adjust the sequence, change the edit or take a different approach before deciding whether anything is ready to publish.

This creates a direct path from the story to an editable first cut. The journalist does not have to begin again in a disconnected system and explain the story from scratch. AI helps with the production process; the journalist remains responsible for the result.

Meeting the Growing Demand for Video Content

The challenge facing many news organizations is not whether video matters. It is how to keep up with the growing number of video assets, formats and versions required to serve audiences across platforms.

A developing story may generate multiple articles, broadcasts, clips, social videos and explainers. Each requires different treatments, yet all must remain consistent with the underlying facts and editorial intent. As the volume of content grows, so does the operational burden on journalists and production teams.

AP Storytelling helps newsrooms manage that reality by placing the story itself at the center of the workflow. Editorial context, media assets and production activities remain connected as coverage evolves, making it easier to create multiple outputs from a common source of truth.

By integrating Electric Sheep’s AI-native video capabilities into that workflow, newsrooms can accelerate production while maintaining editorial oversight. AI assists with the mechanics of video creation, allowing journalists to focus on judgment, accuracy and storytelling.

The result is a more scalable approach to producing the high-quality video experiences audiences increasingly expect.

See our partnership in action at IBC (7.A19)

At IBC 2026, visitors will see story context from AP Storytelling used with source footage in Electric Sheep to create multiple draft edits.

The demonstration brings the purpose of the collaboration into focus: combining AP Storytelling’s story-centric workflow with Electric Sheep’s specialist video technology to help newsrooms create video faster, without taking journalists out of the process.

The Electric Sheep team will be based on the AP Workflow Solutions booth 7.A19 throughout IBC.

Visitors can meet both teams, see the integration in action and discuss how a connected, journalist-led AI video workflow could support their own newsroom.
