Ten years ago, the DPP began as a bold initiative to bring clarity and collaboration to a fragmented media technology ecosystem. Today, it has grown into a trusted global community with over 520 member companies. We’re proud to say that the Associated Press has been there from the very beginning.
As a founding member, AP has supported the DPP in its efforts to shape industry standards, improve interoperability, and drive innovation that supports newsrooms and media organizations around the world.
Over the past decade, the DPP has hosted more than 280 events, published over 120 insight reports, and created a space for open, practical dialogue between technology providers and content creators. AP’s contributions have ranged from strategic working groups to technology showcases, where we’ve had the opportunity to share how tools like ENPS and AP Storytelling help simplify news production across platforms.
This collaboration reflects AP Workflow Solutions’ commitment to developing newsroom technology that is both practical and scalable. As VP & General Manager of AP Workflow Solutions, Brian Hopman noted at IBC 2024: “We’re not just building tech – we’re solving problems for journalists, every day.” Being part of the DPP means we’re not doing that in isolation. We’re learning from, and contributing to, a wider ecosystem that thrives on cooperation.
The DPP is more than an industry group. It’s a proving ground for ideas that have real-world impact. For AP, it’s helped us align with broadcasters, digital publishers, and production teams worldwide to better understand operational needs and anticipate what’s next.
As the media industry grapples with AI, cloud transitions, and cost pressures as reflected in the latest DPP Media CTO Survey 2024, AP’s relationship with the DPP ensures we’re part of the right conversations, with the right people, at the right time.
We’re celebrating the past 10 years, but we’re focused on the next 10. That means continuing to develop solutions that reduce duplication in the newsroom, make multi-platform publishing seamless, and help our customers do more with fewer steps.
We’ve already started. AP Storytelling offers centralized planning, editorial versioning, and real-time rundown synchronization with ENPS and other NRCS’s, capabilities that reflect where the industry is heading, and the types of practical innovation the DPP has always championed.
Here’s to 10 years of progress and to what we’ll build next, together.
